 2018 Preview 


       Mae Jemison completed the 2017 season with a 10-2 record. Last year Mae Jemison captured the region eight title and a number one seed in the Class 5A playoffs. They finished region play with a 7-0 record. It was the first region championship for the Jaguars. Mae Jemison reached the second round of the playoffs before falling to St. Clair County by a score of 48-21.

       No team at Mae Jemison ever won more games in a season than the ten victories last year. The 424 points scored by the Jaguars last year were a team record in a single season.

      

       Mae Jemison is a relatively new football program having fielded a team only two seasons. They have managed a record of 16-7 over the past two years.




       The Jaguars are led by head coach Kelvis White who is entering his third season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 16-7 over the past two seasons at Mae Jemison. Under his direction the Jaguars have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have won one region crown with Coach White.

       Coach White's overall record as a head football coach in ten season stands at 55-52 (51.4%). Over the course of his career, Coach White's teams have qualified for the playoffs a total of six times and won one region championship.

       The Mae Jemison Jaguars will play in Class 6A region eight during the 2018 season. The Jaguars move up in classification to Class 6A. They may find the going slightly tougher with the move.

       The Jaguars should be considered one of the favorites for the region eight championship this season and a home game in the first round of the playoffs.

       The Jaguars open the 2018 season at home against non-region opponent Gardendale on Friday, August 24 at Louis Crews Stadium. Last year the Gardendale Rockets finished with an overall record of 6-5 and in third place in Class 6A region six. The Rockets lost in the first round of the Class 6A playoffs to Muscle Shoals by a score of 23-20.

       Mae Jemison and Gardendale have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Jaguars have a 0-2-0 record against the Rockets. They last met in with
